Summer 2012
When I said that the garden was hibernating, I meant : it is, partly. We planted garlic in the Fall 2012, covered it with a thick layer of leaves for insulation to prevent it from freezing in winter months. We should have first garlic ready to harvest in the Spring 2013. As we haven’t grown our own garlic before we both are really excited about it. I can’t wait to make my own braided garlic. It will be so beautiful.
For those who are curious, we bought locally grown garlic at a local farm, separating each clove and planting it into the ground, in October. There are about 100 of them in the ground. If all goes well, you’ll be seeing some garlic field in the Spring. I’ll make my mom’s famous garlic soup with little hand-thrown flour dumplings.
