HOW TO MAKE APRIL FOOLS DAY JELLO DENTURE FOOD PRANK
This funny and kid-friendly jello Aprils fools day prank is super easy to make.
PREPARE DENTURE SILICONE MOLD
To make jello dentures I used a silicone mold.
Lightly spray denture silicone mold with a non-stick spray. Wipe off over spray with a dry paper towel.
JELLO DENTURES INGREDIENTS
I prepared jello dentures in 2 steps. First, I made the white teeth and then pink gums.
First step is to prepare white mixture for the dentures : teeth and gums.
You are going to need :
- Sweetened Condensed Milk
- Cream Cheese
- Flavorings : Vanilla Extract, (optional)
- Raspberry Jello or Pink Food Coloring – to make pink gums
Pour cold water into a bowl and sprinkle granulated gelatin over cold water. Let gelatin bloom for 5-10 minutes, (step 1-2). While gelatin is blooming prepare mixture of cream cheese and condensed milk. Gradually whisk sweetened condensed milk into cream cheese, (step 3). If desired you can whisk in Vanilla Extract (1/8tsp).
Once gelatin is bloomed pour in hot water and whisk well until all of the gelatin is dissolved, (step 4-6). Allow to cool for 5 minutes.
Then gradually whisk in condensed milk/cream cheese mixture. Mixture will be white, (step 7-8).
TIP : How to check if gelatin is dissolved? Rub the mixture between your fingers. If it’s smooth gelatin is dissolved.
FILL THE SILICONE DENTURE MOLD – TEETH PART
Place silicone mold onto a flat tray. With a ½ teaspoon measure pour white mixture into a prepared silicone denture mold. Only fill the part of the mold where the teeth are molded.
Stick the mold into the fridge and allow white mixture to partly set, for about 15 minutes.
Now we can prepare pink mixture to make the gums part of the jello denture. To color and flavor white gelatin mixture I used raspberry jello. You can use pink food coloring or raspberry/strawberry jello will work, too.
Into a small dish pour small amount of raspberry jello powder and pour hot water over it. Stir well and let gelatin dissolve, (step 1-4). Then whisk raspberry jello mixture into a remaining white sweetened condensed milk/cream cheese mixture, (step 5).
FILL THE SILICONE DENTURE MOLD – PINK GUMS PART
Now that white filling is partly set (slightly sticky when touched with a finger) you can top it off with pink jello mixture.
Use a tablespoon measure to fill the mold to the top. Return filled mold into the fridge allow to set for several hours.
UNMOLD DENTURE MOLD
Loosen the edges and turn the mold upside down. Gently shake out the jello dentures and place them onto the plate. Store covered in the fridge until ready to use.
LIGHT BLUE JELLO INGREDIENTS
Now that we’ve go the jello dentures we can prepare “water” jello.
Prepare light blue jello mixture. I couldn’t find light blue jello in the box so I made my own jello using following ingredients.
- Light colored fruit Juice, peach, apricot, apple (don’t use pineapple)
- Citric Acid ( use citric acid to make Invert Sugar)
Pour gelatin over cold fruit juice and let it sit to bloom for 5-10 minutes, (step 1-3). Into a pot pour water, sugar and citric acid. Heat over medium heat until all of the sugar and citric acid is completely dissolved, nearly boiling, (step 4-8).
TIP : If you can find light blue jello powder you can use it instead.
Scoop out bloomed gelatin and add it to hot water with dissolved sugar and citric acid. Stir well until all of the gelatin is dissolved, (step 1-3). Color mixture with a tiny amount of blue gel food coloring. Stir well and let it cool to lukewarm to room temperature. This can take about 10-15 minutes. Pour mixture into a funnel pitcher.
TIP : To color water with blue gel food color dip a tip of a toothpick into a sky blue gel food coloring and then dip the toothpick into the water and stir well with a spoon.
FILL THE GLASSES WITH JELLO
Pour about ¼ cup of room to lukewarm temperature blue jello into each of 4 drinking glasses. Then place the denture jello pieces into the glasses. Allow to set in the fridge for 15 minutes.
TIP : Fill the drinking glass in steps. Otherwise if you fill it to the top and then add jello denture, denture will float on the top. You want denture to be on the bottom. To make it sit at the bottom you need to add small amount of blue jello along with the denture jello first. Let it set partly in the fridge for 15 minutes and then top it off with remaining blue jello.
Now that 1st layer of jello is partly set you can top it off with more light blue jello mixture and allow it to set in the fridge for couple of hours.
HOW SHOULD I STORE JELLO DESSERT?
Store dental jello food prank dessert covered in the fridge until ready to serve, for up to 5 days.
TIP : Serving suggestion. Serve with a toothpaste – a dollop of whipped cream.
