Minecraft Rice Krispie Treats

Need a last-minute treat for a Minecraft Birthday Party? I’m going to show you how to make Minecraft Rice Krispie Treats. This super easy-to-make no-bake layered vanilla-cocoa Krispies recipe is a favorite with kids and adults alike.

HOW TO MAKE MINECRAFT DIRT BLOCK RICE KRISPIES TREATS

To make these marshmallow rice, Krispies Minecraft treats I used rice Krispies cereal and marshmallows. What if you can’t find rice Krispies cereal? Don’t worry you can use puffed rice or wheat puffs cereal instead. I used puffed rice cereal to make my adorable Rilakkuma Rice Krispie Cake.

PREPARE BAKING PAN

First prepare 9×9-inch square baking dish. Spray the dish with a non-stick spray and set it aside. Alternatively brush the pan with a thin layer of butter.

VANILLA – GREEN LAYER

Ideally, you’d want to use mini marshmallows when making homemade rice Krispie treats. That being said, I’ve successfully used regular-size marshmallows as well. So, If you can’t find mini marshmallows, you can use regular-size ones, too. The only difference is they will take a little longer to melt.

Start by the melting the butter on low heat in a medium size pan. Once the butter is melted add all of the marshmallows. Stir frequently till all of the marshmallows are melted. If you are using regular size marshmallows it will take slightly longer for them to melt.

Once marshmallows are melted remove mixture from the heat and stir in several drops of green gel food coloring and Vanilla Extract.

Lastly fold in rice krispies cereal.

Pour the green vanilla rice Krispies mixture into the prepared baking pan. Layer a piece of wax paper on the top and press the mixture evenly into the bottom of the pan. Use your hands or the back of the measuring spoon. Cover with a food wrap and set in the refrigerator for 20 minutes before adding the cocoa Krispies layer.

CHOCOLATE RICE KRISPIES TREATS LAYER

To make a chocolate rice Krispie treats I used cocoa powder along with chocolate. You can use chocolate chips or chopped chocolate bar (step 1).

On low heat, in a large pan, heat butter until melted. Then add marshmallows. Stir frequently until all marshmallows are melted (steps 2-3). Then add cocoa powder and chopped chocolate/chocolate chips. Stir over low heat until all the chocolate is melted and the mixture is homogeneous. Remove from the heat and stir in Vanilla Extract (steps 4-5). Fold the cereal into the marshmallow mixture.

While still warm, pour cocoa Krispies mixture over the green layer into the baking pan. Layer a piece of wax paper on the top and press the mixture evenly on top of the green layer. Use your hands or the back of the measuring cup to smooth the top of the chocolate layer. Remove wax paper, cover with a food wrap, and refrigerate for 45 minutes.

UNMOLD RICE KRISPIES TREATS

Run a dull knife along the edges. Invert the baking pan to release the rice krispie layer onto a cutting board.

HOW TO CUT RICE KRISPIE TREATS

You have 2 options. Use a cutter for perfectly shaped rice Krispy treats.

Or cut them into cubes or other shapes with a knife.

HOW TO STORE HOMEMADE RICE KRISPIE TREATS

Store treats in an airtight container, layered between wax paper. You can store Krispy treats at room temperature or in the refrigerator. It depends on how you like them. If you want them gooey and soft store them at room temperature; they keep for 3-4 days. If you prefer them firmer, refrigerate them; they keep in the fridge for up to a week.

I used these Minecraft Dirt Block Rice Krispy Treats to decorate my Minecraft Cake. To glue them together you can use little bit of melted chocolate or Swiss Buttercream.
