Angel Wings Cupcake Decorations

I thought I’d make Christmas Butterflies, I still might do that, but it occurred to me that Angels would be a better fit for this Joyful  Season.

I made Egg Nog Rum Cupcakes..recipe can be found here. They are super delicious and really festive too.

Now we are going to concentrate on How To Make Angel Wings.
They are not as complicated as they look.  Before you start I recommend you visit my Royal Icing Butterflies Tutorial, it will give you an idea of how to make these.

Angel Wings from Royal Icing

Royal Icing Recipe

Silver Luster Dust( All About Luster Dust Tutorial)

-using wax paper or parchment paper

– outline the wings with outline consistency royal icing

– flood the wings with flood icing
-once flooded, let dry completely
– when dry, pipe the details using outline consistency royal icing, let dry
-when piped details are dry, paint them with luster dust, visit my tutorial on Luster Dust for HOW TO
-last step is to connect the wings and dry them on the angled drying rack
below you can see I only “glued” bottom part of the angel wings.
-let dry completely
– carefully peel Angel Wings
-be careful as royal icing when dry is fragile

Here you can see how finished wings look

  1. Thank you so much for stopping by ladies. These were a big hit. 🙂

Abigail,Thank you. I'm afraid these toppers would break in shipping, they are made from royal icing, and it is kind of fragile when dry, where are you located? I hope you can get them from a local baker for your Birthday.Happy 30th.
