Few weeks ago I worked with new SugarVeil® line and I made this humorous Mummy Vase Cake using Flower Toppers, Medallions, Leaf Toppers and Burlap mats.
New SugarVeil line is now available at Michaels Craft Store.
I've used SugarVeil before -see my 3D Wedding Cookies I made last year.
New mats are compact and really easy to work with and they produce beautifully detailed, delicate designs that can be used to decorate cookies, cakes, cupcakes and other treats. I used some edible lace to decorate fancy doughnuts-recipe I made recently.
To make the Mummy Vase Cake you need
Fresh Lemon Royal Icing
Red food color to color icing
Vanilla Pound Cake
Swiss Buttercream 1/2 batch,
Simple Syrup - brush on each cake layer, if needed
1 cup sugar
1 cup water
Bring to boil, boil for 4 minutes, remove from the heat, cool, add 1tsp vanilla extract and few drops of caramel flavor(optional)SugarVeil® Icing
SugarVeil® Mats : burlap, leaf toppers, flower toppers, medallions
SugarVeil® Fin Tool and Spreader ,spatula, damp towel, damp paper towel, corn starch, clean food only pastry brush (not silicone one), cocoa powder.
I made small pouches with cheese cloth to store corn starch and cocoa powder. I used a rubber band to close them up and if needed I refilled them by simply removing the rubber band.
