~How I took this Picture~

Nikon D300, 17-55mm F/2.8G, 35mm  ISO 200, Manual Exposure 1/13s, F/3.5,0EV

I thought I'd share a behind the scene photo with you today.
For this particular shot I decided to go with bright contrasting colors. I find that solid colors are a great choice to start with, you see blue table runner has a nice texture to it and little dish I used to serve my sorbet offers just enough pattern to make it interesting. I took few strawberry leaves to include bright green color.
I used a silver reflector on the right, you can't see that in the picture. Light was coming through the sliding door and skylights above.

There is so much to learn, I feel like I've grown a lot since 2008, when I started with food photography, and yet there are so many things I need to learn and would like to accomplish.

.Here is my very first food photo that I took in 2008 and I was so proud of it. I didn't know what I was doing.
Internet helped me so much, it would be so unfair not to mention it. Though I read books and articles from magazines and such, internet is a great source of inspiration and ideas and it offers lots of tutorials as well.
There is so much I would like to try and hopefully I'll have some time to experiment with different things.

For this particular shot above I used some basic props found in a local store or a thrift shop. I have drawers full of stuff that I found at garage sales.Love Garage Sales!
Table Runner -IKEA- I think I own pretty much all of their table runners, love them, they add nice texture and are super versatile
Dishes- Yard sale. They are Japanese style dishes with beautiful images, I bought 4 for $1
Napkin- Thrift shop 50cents
Vase- local garden shop -$10

I can't wait  to check out Craig's List for this weekend's yard sales listings.
